Independent sub-specialty radiology review services
Two services. One standard of review.
As Australia’s first patient-direct online radiology second-opinion service, ScanCheck offers independent sub-specialty review services delivered by our panel of senior, FRANZCR-fellowed Australian radiologists. For patients and their referring clinicians: a written second-opinion report on imaging you have already had. For radiologists and clinics: structured peer review to support CPD compliance and clinical governance. Services are available to patients in Australia and internationally.
Scan Review
A complete written report on imaging you have already had, prepared by one of our senior FRANZCR-fellowed sub-specialty radiologists. We review the same images your original radiologist saw — but with fresh eyes, sub-specialty expertise, and the time to be thorough. A Scan Review is most useful when:
– A finding seems borderline or uncertain in the original report
– A “clear” result has not resolved your symptoms
– You want certainty about a complex case before treatment
– Your imaging was reported by a general radiologist when a sub-specialty opinion would be appropriate
– You want an independent second opinion to support a clinical decision
Reports are usually delivered within five business days from when we have your images.
Peer Review
Independent peer review delivered by senior FRANZCR-fellowed sub-specialty radiologists, for two audiences:
For individual radiologists — Structured case-based peer review to support your Category 2 (Reviewing Performance) CPD requirement under the RANZCR / AHPRA framework. A minimum of five Category 2 hours each year is required for CPD compliance, and external peer review counts toward this.
For radiology clinics and practices — Independent quality assurance review of cases, sub-specialty oversight where in-house cover is limited, and external second-reads to support clinical governance. Reviews are delivered with written feedback suitable for the RANZCR ePortfolio (for individuals) or for your practice’s QA records (for clinics).
