About ScanCheck

ScanCheck is Australia’s first patient-direct online radiology second-opinion service. We provide independent sub-specialty review of imaging by senior FRANZCR-fellowed Australian radiologists — available to patients, referring clinicians, and international customers.

Sub-specialty radiology — the deep expertise that comes from years of focused training in a specific area like neuroradiology, paediatrics, or musculoskeletal imaging — is often unavailable outside major teaching hospitals. Even when it is available, getting an independent sub-specialty opinion on a specific case is difficult.

For many patients, that gap means accepting a generalist’s reading of a complex scan, or getting no second perspective at all. For clinicians, it means making important treatment decisions without the input a sub-specialist could provide.

ScanCheck closes that gap. Our panel of senior radiologists — all FRANZCR-fellowed, all practising daily in Australian hospitals — review imaging on its merits, with the time, sub-specialty expertise, and independence to deliver a thorough second opinion.

Our panel

ScanCheck is delivered by a panel of six senior radiologists. Every reviewing radiologist:
  • Holds a FRANZCR fellowship (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists)
  • Has sub-specialty training in their area of expertise
  • Continues to practise in Australian public and private hospitals
  • Is independent of your imaging facility, treating clinician, or insurer
Our panel members aren’t publicly profiled — but every ScanCheck report is signed by the reviewing radiologist, so you always know who has reviewed your imaging. Sub-specialty coverage:
  • Paediatrics
  • Neuroradiology
  • Musculoskeletal imaging
  • Chest and cardiovascular imaging
  • Abdominal imaging
  • Women’s health imaging
  • Nuclear medicine

How we work

ScanCheck operates entirely online. Patients and clinicians submit cases through our website. Imaging is uploaded securely, reviewed by an assigned sub-specialty radiologist from our panel, and a comprehensive written report is delivered — usually within five business days.

For international cases, ScanCheck radiologists are Australian-registered (FRANZCR) and accept cases under our standard waiver. Reports are delivered in English as a downloadable PDF.

What we stand for

Four principles that shape every ScanCheck review

Independence

Every ScanCheck radiologist is independent of the imaging facility that performed your scan, your treating clinician, and any insurer. We review on the merits, without external pressure.

Sub-specialty expertise

Every reviewer is fellowship-trained in their area — paediatrics, neuroradiology, MSK, chest, abdominal, women’s health, or nuclear medicine. No generalist readings of specialist imaging.

Transparency

Pricing is set out clearly before any work begins. You receive a written quote before consenting, and you only proceed if you accept the cost. No hidden fees, no surprises.

Senior clinicians

All ScanCheck radiologists hold a FRANZCR fellowship and continue to practise daily in Australian public and private hospitals. You’re getting opinions from clinicians actively at the top of their field.
