Radiology second opinions for international patients
ScanCheck radiologists are Australian-registered FRANZCR-fellowed sub-specialists. We accept international cases — patients and clinicians anywhere in the world can request an independent sub-specialty review of imaging performed locally. Reports are delivered in English as a downloadable PDF.
Why a ScanCheck international review?
Independent sub-specialty opinions are difficult to access in many parts of the world. ScanCheck makes Australian sub-specialty radiology available globally.
- FRANZCR-fellowed Australian radiologists — the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists fellowship is recognised internationally as a senior radiology credential
- Sub-specialty coverage — paediatrics, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal, chest and cardiovascular, abdominal, women’s health, nuclear medicine
- Independent — no relationship to your original imaging facility, treating clinician, or insurer
- Reports delivered in English as a downloadable PDF
- Reports usually delivered within five business days
How it works for international cases
The process is the same as for Australian patients, with one difference: because we don’t have access to overseas imaging systems, you’ll need to provide your imaging directly in DICOM format.
- Submit an enquiry via our online form with details of your imaging.
- Receive a quote within one business day. The quote is in Australian dollars and includes a link to the consent form.
- Complete the consent form and pay via PayPal (PayPal handles currency conversion automatically).
- Share your imaging in DICOM format via a secure cloud service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer. Most imaging facilities can provide your scans on a CD, DVD, or via download — the files are usually already in DICOM format. If your facility asks what format you need, request DICOM.
- Receive your written report — usually within five business days of us receiving your images. Complex cases or busy periods may take longer; we’ll let you know if so.
Pricing
ScanCheck pricing applies to international cases in the same way as Australian cases. All fees are quoted in Australian dollars (AUD). Payment is processed via PayPal, which converts to your local currency automatically.
See our Pricing page for full details.
Important information for international customers
When you request a ScanCheck report from outside Australia, please be aware of the following:
- ScanCheck radiologists are registered to practise in Australia but are not credentialed at the imaging facility where your scan was performed and may not be licensed or registered in your country.
- The ScanCheck report is an independent second opinion. It does not constitute care provided within your local imaging facility or under that facility’s governance, protocols, or credentialing.
- Requirements for medical practice and medico-legal rules vary by country. The ScanCheck report may not be accepted by local insurers, agencies, employers, immigration authorities, courts, or hospitals.
- Uploading your imaging and health information to ScanCheck is for the purpose of obtaining a second opinion. Data may be stored and processed on secure systems in Australia. Cross-border transfer of medical data may carry risks, including differences in privacy laws between countries.
- ScanCheck takes all reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality and security of your data.
By proceeding with an enquiry and consent form, you confirm you understand and agree to these terms.
